For couples who have completed their official ceremony at city hall and want to celebrate somewhere unforgettable, Amsterdam offers many options. Classic canal houses, monumental town buildings, modern event venues. For couples seeking something fundamentally different, Faralda Crane Hotel offers a wedding reception that cannot be replicated anywhere else. A restored harbour crane on the NDSM yard, fifty metres above the IJ, with the Amsterdam skyline across the water. Three suites for the couple and closest guests, a rooftop for the toast, and an industrial monument as the backdrop for the photographs you will look at for the rest of your lives.
Three elements set Faralda apart from traditional Amsterdam wedding venues.
The location itself is unique. No other couple can hold their wedding reception on a restored harbour crane in Amsterdam. Faralda is literally the only crane hotel in the world. For couples who want to mark their wedding day with an irreplaceable place, this is the difference from a canal house or banquet hall used by hundreds of other couples.
Limited scale works for the right kind of celebration. Faralda is not a banquet hall for 200 guests. With three suites and the full Crane buyout, Faralda suits intimate celebrations of up to roughly 20 guests in total. For couples who deliberately choose a smaller celebration with immediate family and closest friends, the scale is an advantage.
The hotel aspect is included. The three suites are available for the couple and immediate family or witnesses. No logistical journey between the celebration and accommodation, no concern about how everyone gets home after the wedding night. The full experience sits in one place.

Voor exclusief gebruik van de hele kraan is een aparte buyout-optie beschikbaar — de drie suites tegelijk, voor verjaardagen, bedrijfsevents, of producties.
Many couples choose a brief legal ceremony at the Amsterdam city hall (Stopera) in the morning, followed by the reception at Faralda in the afternoon and evening. The Stopera is reachable by car in about 20 minutes via the IJ tunnel.
Faralda offers two formats for your celebration.
All three suites reserved at once for the couple and immediate guests. Exclusive use of the shared spaces including the rooftop for toasts and photographs. Suitable for groups of up to roughly 20 guests in total. Separate rates on request. Discover the Faralda Crane buyout →
For couples who want to celebrate with witnesses or a small group only (max 6 guests in total including the couple), a reception is possible without the full Crane buyout. The three suites are available for the immediate guests. For couples who prefer simplicity over a full event arrangement.
For the celebration itself, different spaces on the Faralda crane offer distinct settings.
The rooftop at fifty metres. For toasts and photographs at sunset. 360 degree views over Amsterdam. Space for 8 to 10 guests plus the couple. Most dramatic in autumn and winter when the sunset falls early and the city lights up across the IJ.
The Secret Suite (at the highest point). For an intimate aperitif or small dinner with witnesses and immediate family. For small groups (4 to 6 people). For couples who prefer calm and intimacy.
Outdoors on the yard around the crane. For groups up to 20 people, with the Faralda crane itself as the backdrop. For summer celebrations where open air defines the rhythm of the evening.
The Faralda team works with you on your specific space preferences, taking into account weather, time of year, and group size.

Private access for the entire celebration. No other hotel guests, no yard visitors in the same space. The entire Faralda Crane is available for your celebration.
Arrival by F4 ferry. For couples who want a symbolic arrival, the free F4 ferry from Centraal Station offers a cinematic opening to the evening. Twelve minutes across the IJ.
Private rooftop jacuzzi for the couple. After the celebration, the rooftop jacuzzi at fifty metres offers a quiet moment used only by the couple. As a closing of the day, or for the first photographs with champagne.
Suite accommodation included. With the Crane buyout, all three suites are available for the couple and immediate guests. Private check-in and concierge.
Catering from NDSM restaurants. Faralda works with several local NDSM restaurants and caterers for dinner and drinks. For couples who prefer local culinary quality over a formal banquet.
On request: music. Faralda has connections with DJs and music partnerships from the NDSM scene. For the reception, a private set, jazz trio, or classical string quartet can be arranged.
On request: photography. A professional photographer with experience on the Faralda crane can document the entire celebration. The industrial monument offers rarely seen composition possibilities for wedding photography.

Answers to the questions we receive most often about wedding receptions on the Faralda crane.
No. Faralda is currently not a venue designated by the City of Amsterdam for legal marriage ceremonies. The legal ceremony takes place at the Amsterdam city hall (Stopera) or another municipal venue. Faralda is available for the wedding reception, the celebration, a symbolic ceremony, and the wedding night. Many couples choose a brief ceremony at the city hall in the morning and hold the reception at Faralda.
Faralda Crane Hotel on the NDSM yard is one of Amsterdam's most unique wedding reception venues. A restored harbour crane, three suites at fifty metres above the IJ, available for exclusive buyout. For classic alternatives: Hotel TwentySeven, Conservatorium, Waldorf Astoria.
Faralda works best for intimate receptions of up to roughly 20 guests in total. The rooftop accommodates 8 to 10 guests plus the couple for a toast or short symbolic ceremony. The outdoor yard around the crane fits up to 20 people. For larger groups, Faralda is not the right choice.
Faralda works with request-based rates. The full Crane buyout has a specific rate per night. Optional elements are priced separately. Request a specific quote for your date and group size.
Through a request on the Faralda website. Note in the form that the stay is for a wedding reception, specify the date and group size. The team reviews the request within forty-eight hours and schedules a conversation about specific wishes. For summer dates, booking at least six months in advance is recommended.
Yes. The rooftop at fifty metres accommodates 8 to 10 guests plus the couple for a symbolic ceremony. At sunset or on clear days, the visual impact is greatest. In rain or poor weather, the celebration moves indoors or to the yard. The legal ceremony itself must take place at a municipal venue.
For unique celebration venues: Westergasfabriek (industrial), Het Scheepvaartmuseum (historic), Tolhuistuin (cultural). For classic venues: De Hortus Botanicus, Vondelkerk, Waldorf Astoria. Faralda is unique due to the combination of industrial monument, elevation, and private accommodation. Discover Faralda as a private event venue.
Standard with the Crane buyout: all three suites for the couple and guests, private access to the entire crane including the rooftop, private check-in and concierge. On request, expandable with catering, music, photography, and private transport. Discover Faralda as a honeymoon hotel.
